We're a group of community members who are peacefully protecting an old and significant tree.
We're staying near the tree until the council consults with the community in a satisfactory way about this decision .
Given the current climate crisis, it's essential to approach issues creatively, to make better decisions for our planet.
We want local voices -who are knowledgeable and passionate about the environment- to be heard, so Warburton can be confident the council and community are working together, in a meaningful, responsible and authentic direction.
We'd like to see this carpark transformed into a reserve that celebrates the ancient forest, of which this Tree was a part.
The nature reserve will create a gathering place for our community, and a means for visitors to connect with the profound importance of our local natural environment.
Come visit us at the tree, join our vigil and have a chat and cup of tea or share in the abundance of food the community is so generously providing.
It's a heartwarming experience to collectively stand for what we deeply feel is right.
Whether you help through GoFundMe, volunteering your time, or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you!
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” - Margaret Mead
